At the moment a lot of my energy is being directed towards my upcoming solo exhibition at the Art Decor Gallery in Whalley (www.artdecorwhalley.co.uk) on May 01st. Preparing for an exhibition is always challenging and an opportunity to try and push the boundaries of my art.
I don't have an overall "Master Plan" for an exhibition, I just try to group my ideas, which usualy leads to a series of paintings expressing a certain theme. This could be "traditional" or "evolutionary"-----------as long as I am painting, I am perfectly content to paint anything.
Building forms are an obvious subject for a series - a reflection of my architectural years. I enjoy "drawing" in the paint. Nature and natural forms are a great source of inspiration, as is the Universe, which is the subject of my latest series of works. I never run out of ideas!
I require a much larger painting space at the moment as my action painting is becoming messy. It is surprising how far paint will travel when launched from the tip of a fast moving palette knife. A domestic environment is hardly enhanced by unplanned projectile art-----------------
