Oh how the time passes...

Tuesday October 09, 2007

Time passes too quickly. My 70th birthday is coming up in November and I have lots of painting to do. I don’t know how other artists feel, but given the opportunity, I’d love to paint for another 100 years. How time is precious! I also have this urge to get organised. It’s not a question of putting objects in a “tidy” organised fashion, as I am not tidy. I do like to know where everything is and like it “to hand”. I am travelling around quite a bit at the moment and have no fixed studio. I find that the location diversity is very stimulating, but it is a pain in the butt when I constantly have to unpack and repack paints and all my painting paraphernalia. Keeping tabs on paintings is also a problem when I have hundreds of paintings currently stored in four locations. My new laptop and digital camera should help. I just wish I had access to all this new technology years ago. My paintings are getting bigger in scale. As eyesight declines, I am naturally moving away from fine detail to more expressionist work. I also like to work in series. I find that once I get into a new form of painting, I like working away, canvas after canvas on the same, or similar subjects. I suppose I am looking for an illusory perfection! I need to get back to the painting------------!
